Albury Gas Works Remediation Setting Records
Ross Mitchell and Associates (RMA) were engaged to undertake the remedial works required for the remediation of the Albury Former Gasworks site. The project involved the excavation of approximately 6,500 m3 of gas works contaminated soils classified as “ Hazardous Waste” from the former gas site located at the town centre of Albury, the removal of remaining gas works infrastructure and transportation under EPA license to the Albury Waste Management Facility for subsequent screening, stabilisation through a pug mill process which microencapsulates the contaminants followed by placement of the treated material within a purpose built lined cell.

RMA’s Group Manager, Remediation and Civil, Miguel Canas commented, “ The Project finished well ahead of its original program, treatment works progressed quickly and achieved market leading production rates. All parties are happy with the progress and the high production rates helped minimize the disruption to the public. We look forward to future opportunities in the Albury Region to complement our project experience”.
